Issued Russian passports in Kupiansk under occupation — what sentence did the court give
A local resident of Kupiansk in Kharkiv region sided the enemy and received a "position" during the occupation by Russian army troops. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Presecutor's Office on Thursday, October 10.
Details of the case
The Office said that prosecutors had proved that a local resident decided to build a career as a police officer in an illegal law enforcement agency of the Russian Federation during the occupation of Kupiansk.
She agreed to the proposal of the invaders and voluntarily took the position of "Deputy inspector at the Public Security Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Temporary Civil Administration of the Kharkiv region".
Thus, from July to September 2022, the newly minted "inspector" was engaged in preparing and issuing Russian passports to local residents. For this, she received a "salary" of 45 thousand Russian rubles.
Court ruling
On October 8, 2024, the Chervonozavodsky District Court of Kharkiv found the 26-year-old woman guilty of collaboration and sentenced her to 12 years in prison with a 10-year disqualification from holding positions in law enforcement agencies along with confiscation of all her property.
"Since the convicted person is still hiding from Ukrainian justice on the territory of the Russian Federation, the term of her sentence will be calculated from the moment of her actual detention. As long as she evades serving the sentence imposed by the court, the statute of limitations is suspended," the prosecutor's office said.
As previously reported, in Zakarpattia a man refused to serve on the basis of a "perfunctory" examination by the Military Medical Commission and demanded a "full and thorough examination". The Mukachevo District Court delivered a verdict.
Previously, in the Poltava region, a man who categorically refused to accept a summon and undergo mobilization, was sentenced by court.
