Sabotager arrested near Kharkiv - hotos
A resident of the village of Blyzniuky, Kharkiv region, was sabotaging railroads on Russia's orders. He set fire to relay cabins of Ukrzaliznytsia.
This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, November 28.
Details of the case
According to law enforcement, the young man, who was 17 years old at the time, was contacted via Telegram and offered to make some extra money.
"He was given the task of setting fire to the relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia in the Lozova district for a monetary reward. The curator explained how to act. One of the conditions of cooperation was to send a photo proving that the cabinet was indeed destroyed," the statement reads.
The prosecutor's office added that in mid-August 2024, the guy managed to set fire to several relay cabinets, but was detained during another attempt.
"It has been preliminarily established that the young man was recruited by Russian special services to destabilize the situation in the region. The young man is awaiting trial in custody," law enforcement officials said.
The guy will be tried on the facts of committing sabotage and attempted sabotage. The accused faces life imprisonment.
